Pendio explains its numbers

The first time a number like GAP or descent load appears, a short card says what it means and how it’s worked out, once; after that it sits behind ⓘ. Settings → How Pendio works collects them all and works offline, and screens that are still empty say what will fill them. The guide on the web has a new chapter, Training on your phone.

iPhone app (beta)

Heart-rate context for runs and climbs

On steady runs, a chip compares the load from your heart rate with the load from your pace, and Trends follows that ratio over 90 days (Heart-rate cost). Every climb effort now carries its average heart rate, and a climb’s progression adds speed per heartbeat. The heart-rate load uses zones set from your threshold heart rate.

Sign in with an email code or Google

No passwords: type your email and Pendio sends a six-digit code. Google sign-in works on the web and in the app. Already using Apple or Strava? Add your email or Google from Settings in the app or the Account page on the web; they all open the same account. You can also delete your account from the web now.

The season as a timeline, and an Account page

On the web, your season now reads as a timeline: the race list itself, with the gaps between races. Signing in has a cleaner panel, there’s an account menu and an Account page, and if you sign in with Strava your name and photo appear as they do in the app.

Race plans and a printable pace card

Put your aid stations and cut-offs on the course profile, and Pendio shares your target time out between the legs by how hard each one is: arrival times, the margin on every cut-off, and the gels for each leg and each drop bag. Print it as a one-page pace card or save it as a PDF. The iPhone app shows the plan too.

Course analysis on the web

Open a course to see what the app shows on its race screen: the elevation profile with the hardest climb and descent, D+ per 10 km, the terrain, the race-day card and the fueling plan. The analysis is the app’s own, ported to the browser, so the numbers match. A target time or a fueling choice set on the web reaches the phone, and the other way round.

Your season and courses on the web

The Race page comes to the browser: your season with its A, B and C races, the countdown and the spacing between races, and every saved course. Import a race’s GPX, add a race by its date, rename it, move it in or out of your season, or delete it, with five seconds to undo. Everything syncs with the iPhone app, and changes made offline go up once you’re back online.

Sign in on pendio.app

Sign in at pendio.app/app with Apple or Strava, with the same account as the iPhone app. Signing in on a computer doesn’t sign your phone out, and Settings → Account in the app lists every device that’s signed in, with a way to sign out everywhere.
